Pentecost

Call to Worship

One: Blessed be God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit ☩ Many: And blessed be God’s Kingdom, now and forever. One: The prophet asks: Can our soul-weary bones live again? Many: O God, you know! One: We ask: Can we dance again after mourning, loss and grief? Many: O God, you know! One: The gift is sure and unmistakable: Many: God’s breath poured out as new life for weary souls! One: Let us celebrate the gift of God’s new life, Many: And come to worship God.

Collect

Almighty God, on this day you opened the way of eternal life to every race and nation by the promised gift of your Holy Spirit: Shed abroad this gift throughout the world by the preaching of the Gospel, that it may reach to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Liturgy of the Table

(Adapted From Lift Up Your Hearts: Year B, OSL Publications) One: The Lord be with you. Many: And also with you. One: Lift up your hearts. Many: We lift them up to the Lord One: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. Many: It is right to give our thanks and praise.

One: It is right, and a good and joyful thing Always and everywhere to give thanks to you, Almighty God, Creator of heaven and earth. Pour out your Spirit upon all flesh May your sons and daughters prophesy. And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven, we praise your name and join in their unending hymn:

Many: Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory
